Vallerin might come off as dismissive and inconsiderate. The truth is, he's more observant and pays more attention to others than many would realize. He takes everything into consideration and simply does whatever is most convenient and/or profitable for himself. He's good at pushing boundaries without crossing them. When he's interested in or wants something, he can be intense and relentless.
past
Vallerin was raised in the Central Shroud. His parents weren't exceptionally wealthy, being merchants in the imports industry, but compared to the rest of his family, they were well-off. Vallerin lived comfortably - perhaps too comfortably. Being the only child of first-generation wealth eager to give their child a good life, Vallerin was spoiled by his parents, who doted on him and always gave him the best they could. He expected everyone else to cater to his whims as well.Vallerin discovered he had an innate talent for magic at a young age, the ability to produce bursts of flames so hot they often burnt blue. As a child, Vallerin was a bully, and would try to use his magic to frighten other children and creatures in the Shroud. As he got older, the magic became more powerful and difficult to control, and he accidentally started a large fire in the Central Shroud when he was fourteen.This did not escape the notice of the Wood Wailers, and, to appease the Elementals, Vallerin was banished from the Twelveswood. His parents decided the best course of action would be to send him away to Mor Dhona, where they travelled often to receive goods from Thanalan and Vylbrand. Leaving most of his possessions behind, Vallerin left on a caravan to stay at a room his parents arranged for him in a boarding house. They set him up with a tutor there, and sent him money regularly for the next few years, until the Calamity struck. It was more than enough for a teenager to live on, but Vallerin wandered around as a vagrant anyway, skipping his lessons and stealing from people for fun.
